Additional YaST Package Repositories

Third-party repositories

This is a list of currently existing third-party YaST repositories, meaning they're external to openSUSE. These packages are not supported by openSUSE, the packages may not be tested and the repositories can contain beta versions and other bleeding edge packages.

Please note that the repositories located at software.opensuse.org/download have been moved to download.opensuse.org/repositories.

Packman

Packman offers various additional packages for openSUSE. To add this repository, see the openSUSE Community website.

To import the GnuPG key issue the following command as root:

rpm --import http://packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.2/gpg-pubkey-1abd1afb.asc

Packman for PPC

Packman for PPC contains part of the Packman packages recompiled for PPC on a Pegasos machine.

Guru

Guru's RPM site contains packages optimized for i686 and x86_64. To add this repository, see the openSUSE Community website.

To import the GnuPG key issue the following command as root:

rpm --import http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/guru-rpm.asc

• Type rpm-md/repomd

Starting with openSUSE 10.3 the Guru packages have been moved to Packman.

VLC VideoLan Client

openSUSE VLC Repositories for SUSE Linux >= 10.0. It contains binaries for x86 and x86_64 including all the required libraries that are not shipped with original SUSE Linux / openSUSE.

In case of problems, be sure to have a look at the VLC Download Site, as there might be some tips posted. Should there be other problems, visit the VLC Forum

suser-j.engelh

• Security and network related packages with enhancements
• Linux kernel enhanced with the Netfilter technologies you need for implementing state-of-the-art firewalling systems and routing solutions

To import the GnuPG key, issue the following command as root (when using smart, this will automatically be done):

	rpm --import http://dev.computergmbh.de/844C4360.key

To add the source from the command line using zypper:

	zypper sa ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-jengelh/SUSE-10.3 suse103-jengelh

Or for smart:

	smart channel --add suse103-jengelh type=rpm-md baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-jengelh/SUSE-10.3 name=suse103-jengelh

http and rsync protocols are also supported in case you are firewalled hard or want to take advantage of quick synchronization.

Scorot

Scorot is another repository with many packages.

Anubisg1

Anubisg1 is a repository with mainly (but not only) instant-messaging packages, it's the only one that contains for example the last versions of aMSN, openC6 and KMesss. It contains also Grub-GFXboot and ueagle-atm-firmware. For help about Grub-GFXboot check this page.

I Join Packman, so lots of my packageg will be moved there!

GnuCash

GnuCash, Taxbird, Jabbin and some other packages on SUSE (i686 and partially x86_64) Additional requirements are in packman now!

ATI Video drivers

http://www2.ati.com/suse repositories for drivers of ATI video cards. Note that this repository is not browsable with a web browser and does not seem to be as up to date as the drivers they offer for download from the web site.

NVIDIA drivers

Repository for drivers of NVIDIA video cards, Please see the NVIDIA HOWTO.

http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse and http://download.nvidia.com/novell repositories for drivers of NVIDIA video cards are not browsable with a web browser but their ftp:// equivalents are.

To install the NVIDIA GnuPG key type as root:

rpm --import http://download.nvidia.com/novell/repodata/repomd.xml.key

MadWifi

A Linux kernel device driver for Wireless LAN chipsets from Atheros chipsets

JPackage

JPackage contains many Java software packages for Linux.

To import the GnuPG key issue the following command as root:

wget -O- http://www.jpackage.org/jpackage.asc | gpg --import

So far the jpackage yum access doesn't work very well with either yast or zen. Some of their rpm descriptions are buggy and the opensuse package parser fails with a warning ("There was an error in installation source initialization. Cannot create package object."). The only tool that seems to handle jpackage properly is smart.

Replace [MIRROR] by a mirror from the mirror list

smart channel --add jpackage type=apt-rpm name="JPackage free" baseurl=[MIRROR]/1.7/generic components=free fingerprint=1F81C0FBC2B822B3DE1233A45C6CFFF7C431416D

Google Linux software repository

Google's Linux software repositories make it easier to download and stay up-to-date with current releases of Google Linux applications. There are 32 and 64 bit versions of the repositories and additional instructions for zypper command line installation. Note that this repository is not browsable with a web browser and the 64 bit repository may not contain equivalents of all the 32 bit repository software.

Dell

There are unofficial repositories for Dell provided drivers and monitoring tools, software and firmware (beta). If the repositories are useful please discuss this with your Dell account manager/sales person so that official blessing may be given to them. Installation is not straightforward and is currently done by means of a script which will vary things by platform.

Banshee

openSUSE Build Service Repository for Banshee. This is the official upstream repository for Banshee releases. Note that the repository provides packages for the open source version of Banshee, not the proprietary version, called Helix Banshee (which may be installed if you installed openSUSE from the DVD/Non-OSS media). If you install the open source version and previously had Helix Banshee installed, you will need to ensure you have any codecs you require (MP3, AAC) installed for the GStreamer media framework, as Helix Banshee included these codecs by default. OpenOffice.org UNSTABLE

The most cutting edge packages for OpenOffice.org. Please be careful! As the name of the repository says, the stability of this software is not guaranteed.
